Die 3 Februarii 2026.

S. Blasii Episcopi et Martyris.

Simplex.

Amen.
Dómine in unióne illíus divínæ intentiónis, qua ipse in terris laudes Deo persolvísti, has tibi Horas persólvo.

O Lord, open Thou my mouth that I may bless Thy Holy Name. Cleanse my heart from all vain, evil, and wandering thoughts; enlighten my understanding; kindle my affections, that I may pray to, and praise Thee with attention and devotion; and may worthily be heard before the presence of Thy Divine Majesty. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Lord, in union with that Divine Intention wherewith Thou didst Thyself praise God, while as Thou wast on earth, I offer these Hours unto Thee.

Invitatorium.

Ave María, grátia plena, * Dóminus tecum.

Hail Mary, full of grace: * The Lord is with thee.

Ave María, grátia plena, * Dóminus tecum.

Hail Mary, full of grace: * The Lord is with thee.

Psalmus 94.

Veníte, exsultémus Dómino, jubilémus Deo salutári nostro: præoccupémus fáciem ejus in confessióne, et in psalmis jubilémus ei.

O come, let us sing unto the Lord, let us make a joyful noise to the God of our Salvation: let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms.

Ave María, grátia plena, * Dóminus tecum.

Hail Mary, full of grace: * The Lord is with thee.

Quóniam Deus magnus Dóminus, et Rex magnus super omnes deos: quóniam non repéllet Dóminus plebem suam, quia in manu ejus sunt omnes fines terræ, et altitúdines móntium ipse cónspicit.

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods: for the Lord will not cast off His people: for in His hand are all the ends of the earth; and the heights of the hills are His also.

Dóminus tecum.

The Lord is with thee.

For the sea is His, and He made it: and His hands formed the dry land: O come, let us worship and fall down; let us cry unto the Lord our Maker. For He is the Lord our God; and we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.

Ave María, grátia plena, * Dóminus tecum.

Hail Mary, full of grace: * The Lord is with thee.

Hódie si vocem ejus audiéritis, nolíte obduráre corda vestra, sicut in exacerbatióne secúndum diem tentatiónis in desérto: ubi tentavérunt me patres vestri, probavérunt et vidérunt ópera mea.

To-day if ye will hear His voice, harden not your heart; as in in the Provocation, and as in the day of Temptation in the wilderness: when your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works.

Dóminus tecum.

The Lord is with thee.

Quadragínta annis próximus fui generatióni huic, et dixi, Semper hi errant corde: ipsi vero non cognovérunt vias meas, quibus jurávi in ira mea, si introíbunt in réquiem meam.

Forty years long was I grieved with that generation and said, It is a people that do alway err in their heart, and they have not known My ways: unto whom I sware in My wrath that they should not enter into My rest.

Ave María, grátia plena, * Dóminus tecum.

Hail Mary, full of grace: * The Lord is with thee.

Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui sancto. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Dóminus tecum.

The Lord is with thee.

Ave María, grátia plena, * Dóminus tecum.

Hail Mary, full of grace: * The Lord is with thee.

Nocturnus.

Spécie tua.

In thy comeliness.

Psalmus 44.

Eructávit cor meum verbum bonum: * dico ego ópera mea regi.
2 Lingua mea cálamus scribæ, * velóciter scribéntis.
3 Speciósus forma præ fíliis hóminum, diffúsa est grátia in lábiis tuis: * proptérea benedíxit te Deus in ætérnum.
4 Accíngere gládio tuo super femur tuum, * potentíssime,
5 Spécie tua et pulchritúdine tua * inténde, próspere procéde, et regna.
6 Propter veritátem, et mansuetúdinem, et justítiam: * et dedúcet te mirabíliter déxtera tua.
7 Sagíttæ tuæ acútæ, pópuli sub te cadent, * in corda inimicórum regis.
8 Sedes tua Deus in sǽculum sǽculi: * virga directiónis virga regni tui.
9 Dilexísti justítiam, et odísti iniquitátem: * proptérea unxit te Deus Deus tuus óleo lætítiæ præ consórtibus tuis.
10 Myrrha, et gutta, et cásia a vestiméntis tuis, a dómibus ebúrneis: * ex quibus delectavérunt te fíliæ regum in honóre tuo.
11 Astitit regína a dextris tuis in vestítu deauráto: * circúmdata varietáte.
Amen.

My heart hath uttered a good word: * I speak my works to the king;
2 My tongue is the pen of a scrivener * that writeth swiftly.
3 Thou art beautiful above the sons of men: grace is poured abroad in thy lips; * therefore hath God blessed thee for ever.
4 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, * O thou most mighty.
5 With thy comeliness and thy beauty set out, * proceed prosperously, and reign.
6 Because of truth and meekness and justice: * and thy right hand shall conduct thee wonderfully.
7 Thy arrows are sharp: under thee shall people fall, * into the hearts of the king's enemies.
8 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: * the sceptre of thy kingdom is a sceptre of uprightness.
9 Thou hast loved justice, and hated iniquity: * therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 Myrrh and stacte and cassia perfume thy garments, from the ivory houses: * out of which the daughters of kings have delighted thee in thy glory.
11 The queen stood on thy right hand, in gilded clothing; * surrounded with variety.
12 Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thy ear: * and forget thy people and thy father's house.
13 And the king shall greatly desire thy beauty; * for he is the Lord thy God, and him they shall adore.
14 And the daughters of Tyre with gifts, * yea, all the rich among the people, shall entreat thy countenance.
15 All the glory of the king's daughter is within in golden borders, * Clothed round about with varieties.
16 After her shall virgins be brought to the king: * her neighbours shall be brought to thee.
17 They shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing: * they shall be brought into the temple of the king.
18 Instead of thy fathers, sons are born to thee: * thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.
19 They shall remember thy name * throughout all generations.
20 Therefore shall people praise thee for ever; * yea, for ever and ever.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Spécie tua et pulchritúdine tua inténde, próspere procéde, et regna.

In thy comeliness and thy beauty, go forward, fare prosperously, and reign.

Adjuvábit eam.

God shall give her.

Psalmus 45.

Amen.

Our God is our refuge and strength: * a helper in troubles, which have found us exceedingly.
2 Therefore we will not fear, when the earth shall be troubled; * and the mountains shall be removed into the heart of the sea.
3 Their waters roared and were troubled: * the mountains were troubled with his strength.
4 The stream of the river maketh the city of God joyful: * the most High hath sanctified his own tabernacle.
5 God is in the midst thereof, it shall not be moved: * God will help it in the morning early.
6 Nations were troubled, and kingdoms were bowed down: * he uttered his voice, the earth trembled.
7 The Lord of armies is with us: * the God of Jacob is our protector.
8 Come and behold ye the works of the Lord: what wonders he hath done upon earth, * Making wars to cease even to the end of the earth.
9 He shall destroy the bow, and break the weapons: * and the shield he shall burn in the fire.
10 Be still and see that I am God; * I will be exalted among the nations, and I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The Lord of armies is with us: * the God of Jacob is our protector.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

God shall give her the help of His countenance; God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved.

Sicut læténtium.

In gladness.

Psalmus 86.

Fundaménta ejus in móntibus sanctis: * díligit Dóminus portas Sion super ómnia tabernácula Jacob.
2 Gloriósa dicta sunt de te, * cívitas Dei.
3 Memor ero Rahab, et Babylónis * sciéntium me.
6 Dóminus narrábit in scriptúris populórum, et príncipum: * horum, qui fuérunt in ea.
7 Sicut lætántium ómnium * habitátio est in te.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

The foundations thereof are in the holy mountains: * The Lord loveth the gates of Sion above all the tabernacles of Jacob.
2 Glorious things are said of thee, * O city of God.
3 I will be mindful of Rahab and of Babylon * knowing me.
4 Behold the foreigners, and Tyre, and the people of the Ethiopians, * these were there.
5 Shall not Sion say: This man and that man is born in her: * and the Highest himself hath founded her?
6 The Lord shall tell in his writings of peoples and of princes, * of them that have been in her.
7 The dwelling in thee * is as it were of all rejoicing.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Sicut læténtium ómnium nostrum habitátio est in te, sancta Dei Génitrix.

In gladness are all we who dwell in thee, O Holy Mother of God.

℣. Grace is poured into thy lips.

Pater noster. secreto.
Qui es in cœlis, sanctificétur nomen tuum: advéniat regnum tuum: fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cœlo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie: et dimítte nobis débita nostra, sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris:
℣. Et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem.
℟. Sed líbera nos a malo.

Our Father.
Who art in heaven: hallowed be thy name: thy kingdom come: thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us:
℣. And lead us not into temptation.
℟. But deliver us from evil.

Absolutio.

℟. Amen.

By the prayers of the Blessed Mary, always a Virgin, and by the prayers of all the Saints, * and for her sake and for their sakes, may the Lord lead us unto the kingdom of heaven.
℟. Amen.

Lectio I.

Jube, domne, benedícere.
Nos cum prole pia * benedícat Virgo María.

Sir, be pleased to give the blessing.
Bless us, Mary, Maiden mild, * Bless us, Jesus, Mary’s Child.

Eccli. 24.

In ómnibus réquiem quæsívi, et in hæreditáte Dómini morábor. Tunc præcépit, et dixit mihi Creátor ómnium: et qui creávit me, requiévit in tabernáculo meo, et dixit mihi: In Jacob inhábita, et in Israël hæreditáre, et in eléctis meis mitte radíces.
Tu autem Dómine miserére nobis.
℟. Deo grátias.

With all these I sought rest, but I shall abide in the inheritance of the Lord. So the Creator of all things gave me a commandment, and said unto me, even He that made me rested in my tabernacle, and said unto me, Let thy dwelling be in Jacob, and thine inheritance in Israël, and strike thou thy roots amid My chosen people.
But Thou, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟. Thanks be to God.

Responsorium I.

℟. Sancta et immaculáta virgínitas, quibus te laúdibus éfferam néscio: * Quia quem cœli cápere non póterant, tuo grémio contulísti.
℣. Benedícta tu in muliéribus, et benedíctus fructus ventris tui.
℟. Quia quem cœli cápere non póterant, tuo grémio contulísti.

℟. O how holy and how spotless is thy virginity! I am too dull to praise thee; * For thou hast borne in thy breast Him Whom the heavens cannot contain.
℣. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
℟. For thou hast borne in thy breast Him Whom the heavens cannot contain.

Lectio II.

℟. Amen.

Sir, be pleased to give the blessing.
With the Lord Who sprang of thee, * Maid of maidens, plead for me.
Amen.

Et sic in Sion firmáta sum, et in civitáte sanctificáta simíliter requiévi, et in Jerúsalem potéstas mea. Et radicávi in pópulo honorificáto, et in parte Dei mei hæréditas illíus, et in plenitúdine sanctórum deténtio mea.
Tu autem Dómine miserére nobis.
℟. Deo grátias.

And so was I established in Zion, and likewise in the Holy City was I given to rest, and in Jerusalem was my power. And I took root among the honourable people, even in the portion of my God, as His own inheritance, and mine abiding was in the full assembly of the Saints.
But Thou, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟. Thanks be to God.

Responsorium II.

℟. Beáta es Virgo María, quæ Dóminum portásti, Creatórem mundi: * Genuísti qui te fecit, et in ætérnum pérmanes Virgo.
℣. Ave María, grátia plena, Dóminus tecum.
℟. Genuísti qui te fecit, et in ætérnum pérmanes Virgo.

℟. Blessed art thou, O Virgin Mary, who hast carried the Lord, the Maker of the world. * Thou hast borne Him Who created thee, and thou abidest a virgin for ever.
℣. Hail, Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.
℟. Thou hast borne Him Who created thee, and thou abidest a virgin for ever.

Lectio III.

℟. Amen.

Sir, be pleased to give the blessing.
Through the Virgin mother concede to us O Lord * safety and peace.
Amen.

Quasi cedrus exaltáta sum in Líbano, et quasi cypréssus in monte Sion: quasi palma exaltáta sum in Cades, et quasi in plantátio rosæ in Jéricho. Quasi olíva speciósa in campis, et quasi plátanus exaltáta sum juxta aquam in platéis. Sicut cinnamómum, et bálsamum aromatízans odórem dedi: quasi myrrha elécta, dedi suavitátem odóris.
Tu autem Dómine miserére nobis.
℟. Deo grátias.

I was exalted like a cedar in Lebanon, and as a cypress-tree upon Mount Zion. I was exalted like a palm-tree in Kadesh, and as a rose plant in Jericho, as a fair olive-tree in the plains, and grew up as a plane tree beside the water in the broad ways. I gave a sweet smell like cinnamon and aromatic balm; I yielded a pleasant odour like the best myrrh.
But Thou, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟. Thanks be to God.

Responsorium III.

℣. Ora pro pópulo, intérveni pro clero, intercéde pro devóto femíneo sexu: séntiant omnes tuum juvámen, quicúmque célebrant tuam sanctam commemoratiónem.
℟. Quia ex te ortus est sol justítiæ,
℣. Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui sancto.
℟. Christus Deus noster.

℟. O Holy Virgin Mary, happy indeed art thou, and right worthy of all praise, * For out of thee rose the Sun of righteousness, * even Christ our God.
℣. Pray for the people, plead for the clergy, make intercession for all woman vowed to God. May all that are keeping this thine holy Feast-day feel the might of thine assistance.
℟. For out of thee rose the Sun of righteousness,
℣. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
℟. Even Christ our God.

O God, my God, * to thee do I watch at break of day.
2 For thee my soul hath thirsted; * for thee my flesh, O how many ways!
3 In a desert land, and where there is no way, and no water: * so in the sanctuary have I come before thee, to see thy power and thy glory.
4 For thy mercy is better than lives: * thee my lips shall praise.
5 Thus will I bless thee all my life long: * and in thy name I will lift up my hands.
6 Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness: * and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.
7 If I have remembered thee upon my bed, I will meditate on thee in the morning: * because thou hast been my helper.
8 And I will rejoice under the covert of thy wings: my soul hath stuck close to thee: * thy right hand hath received me.
9 But they have sought my soul in vain, they shall go into the lower parts of the earth: * they shall be delivered into the hands of the sword, they shall be the portions of foxes.
10 But the king shall rejoice in God, all they shall be praised that swear by him: * because the mouth is stopped of them that speak wicked things.

1 May God have mercy on us, and bless us: * may he cause the light of his countenance to shine upon us, and may he have mercy on us.
2 That we may know thy way upon earth: * thy salvation in all nations.
3 Let people confess to thee, O God: * let all people give praise to thee.
4 Let the nations be glad and rejoice: * for thou judgest the people with justice, and directest the nations upon earth.
5 Let the people, O God, confess to thee: let all the people give praise to thee: * the earth hath yielded her fruit.
6 May God, our God bless us, may God bless us: * and all the ends of the earth fear him.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Beáta Dei Génitrix María,

O Blessed Mary, Mother of God,

Benedictus.

Amen.

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, * for He hath visited and redeemed His people.
2 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us, * in the house of His servant David:
3 As He spake by the mouth of His holy Prophets, * which have been since the world began:
4 That we should be saved from our enemies, * and from the hand of all that hate us:
5 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, * and to remember His holy covenant:
6 The oath which He sware to our father Abraham, * that He would grant unto us,
7 That we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, * might serve Him without fear,
8 In holiness and righteousness before Him * all the days of our life.
9 And thou, child, shalt be called the Prophet of the Highest: * for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways:
10 To give knowledge of salvation unto His people, * by the remission of their sins;
11 Through the tender mercy of our God, * whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
12 To give light to them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, * to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Ad Matutinum.

Dicuntur secreto.

Pater noster, qui es in cœlis: sanctificétur nomen tuum: advéniat regnum tuum: fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cœlo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie: et dimítte nobis débita nostra, sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris: et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem: sed líbera nos a malo. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven: hallowed be thy name: thy kingdom come: thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us: and lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Ave María, grátia plena, Dóminus tecum: benedícta tu in muliéribus, et benedíctus fructus ventris tui Jesus. Sancta María, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatóribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostræ. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Credo in Spíritum sanctum, sanctam Ecclésiam cathólicam, sanctórum communiónem, remissiónem peccatórum, carnis resurrectiónem, vitam ætérnam. Amen.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell: the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the Forgiveness of sins, the Resurrection of the body. And the Life everlasting. Amen.

Deinde clara voce:

℣. Dómine, †︎ lábia mea apéries.
℟. Et os meum annuntiábit laudem tuam.

℣. O Lord, open Thou my lips.
℟. And my mouth shall show forth Thy praise.

℣. Deus ✠ in adjutórium meum inténde.
℟. Dómine ad adjuvándum me festína.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen. Laus tibi Dómine, Rex ætérnæ glóriæ.

Make haste, O God, to deliver me.
Make haste to help me, O Lord.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Praise to Thee be given Lord, King of eternal glory.

Regem Mártyrum Dóminum, * Veníte, adorémus.

The Lord He is the King of the Martyrs. * O come, let us worship Him!

Regem Mártyrum Dóminum, * Veníte, adorémus.

The Lord He is the King of the Martyrs. * O come, let us worship Him!

Veníte, adorémus.

O come, let us worship Him!

For the sea is His, and He made it: and His hands formed the dry land: O come, let us worship and fall down; let us cry unto the Lord our Maker. For He is the Lord our God; and we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.

Regem Mártyrum Dóminum, * Veníte, adorémus.

The Lord He is the King of the Martyrs. * O come, let us worship Him!

Veníte, adorémus.

O come, let us worship Him!

Regem Mártyrum Dóminum, * Veníte, adorémus.

The Lord He is the King of the Martyrs. * O come, let us worship Him!

Amen.

Psalmus 38.

2 Pósui ori meo custódiam, * cum consísteret peccátor advérsum me.
4 Concáluit cor meum intra me: * et in meditatióne mea exardéscet ignis.
5 Locútus sum in lingua mea: * Notum fac mihi Dómine finem meum.

12 Ab ómnibus iniquitátibus meis érue me: * oppróbrium insipiénti dedísti me.
13 Obmútui, et non apérui os meum, quóniam tu fecísti: * ámove a me plagas tuas.
14 A fortitúdine manus tuæ ego deféci in increpatiónibus: * propter iniquitátem corripuísti hóminem.
Amen.

I said: I will take heed to my ways: * that I sin not with my tongue.
2 I have set guard to my mouth, * when the sinner stood against me.
3 I was dumb, and was humbled, and kept silence from good things: * and my sorrow was renewed.
4 My heart grew hot within me: * and in my meditation a fire shall flame out.
5 I spoke with my tongue: *O Lord, make me know my end.
6 And what is the number of my days: * that I may know what is wanting to me.
7 Behold thou hast made my days measurable: * and my substance is as nothing before thee.
8 And indeed all things are vanity: * every man living.
9 Surely man passeth as an image: * yea, and he is disquieted in vain.
10 He storeth up: * and he knoweth not for whom he shall gather these things.
11 And now what is my hope? is it not the Lord? * and my substance is with thee.
12 Deliver thou me from all my iniquities: * thou hast made me a reproach to the fool.
13 I was dumb, and I opened not my mouth, because thou hast done it. * Remove thy scourges from me.
14 The strength of thy hand hath made me faint in rebukes: * Thou hast corrected man for iniquity.
15 And thou hast made his soul to waste away like a spider: * surely in vain is any man disquieted.
16 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and my supplication: * give ear to my tears.
17 Be not silent: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner * as all my fathers were.
18 O forgive me, that I may be refreshed, before I go hence, * and be no more.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 39.

15 Tu autem Dómine ne longe fácias miseratiónes tuas a me: * misericórdia tua et véritas tua semper suscepérunt me.
16 Quóniam circumdedérunt me mala, quorum non est númerus: * comprehendérunt me iniquitátes meæ, et non pótui ut vidérem.
17 Multiplicátæ sunt super capíllos cápitis mei: * et cor meum derelíquit me.
18 Compláceat tibi Dómine ut éruas me: * Dómine, ad adjuvándum me réspice.
Amen.

With expectation I have waited for the Lord, * and he was attentive to me.
2 And he heard my prayers, * and brought me out of the pit of misery and the mire of dregs.
3 And he set my feet upon a rock, * and directed my steps.
4 And he put a new canticle into my mouth, * a song to our God.
5 Many shall see, and shall fear: * and they shall hope in the Lord.
6 Blessed is the man whose trust is in the name of the Lord; * and who hath not had regard to vanities, and lying follies.
7 Thou hast multiplied thy wonderful works, O Lord my God: * and in thy thoughts there is no one like to thee.
8 I have declared and I have spoken * they are multiplied above number.
9 Sacrifice and oblation thou didst not desire; * but thou hast pierced ears for me.
10 Burnt offering and sin offering thou didst not require: * Then said I, Behold I come.
11 In the head of the book it is written of me that I should do thy will: * O my God, I have desired it, and thy law in the midst of my heart.
12 I have declared thy justice in a great church, * lo, I will not restrain my lips: O Lord, thou knowest it.
13 I have not hid thy justice within my heart: * I have declared thy truth and thy salvation.
14 I have not concealed thy mercy and thy truth * from a great council.
15 Withhold not thou, O Lord, thy tender mercies from me: * thy mercy and thy truth have always upheld me.
16 For evils without number have surrounded me; * my iniquities have overtaken me, and I was not able to see.
17 They are multiplied above the hairs of my head: * and my heart hath forsaken me.
18 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me, * look down, O Lord, to help me.
19 Let them be confounded and ashamed together, that seek after my soul * to take it away.
20 Let them be turned backward and be ashamed * that desire evils to me.
21 Let them immediately bear their confusion, * that say to me: Tis well, tis well.
22 Let all that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: * and let such as love thy salvation say always: The Lord be magnified.
23 But I am a beggar and poor: * the Lord is careful for me.
24 Thou art my helper and my protector: * O my God, be not slack.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Ut non delínquam in lingua mea.

That I sin not with my tongue.

Sana.

Heal.

Psalmus 40.

3 Dóminus opem ferat illi super lectum dolóris ejus: * univérsum stratum ejus versásti in infirmitáte ejus.
8 Advérsum me susurrábant omnes inimíci mei: * advérsum me cogitábant mala mihi.
10 Etenim homo pacis meæ, in quo sperávi: * qui edébat panes meos, magnificávit super me supplantatiónem.
12 In hoc cognóvi quóniam voluísti me: * quóniam non gaudébit inimícus meus super me.
13 Me autem propter innocéntiam suscepísti: * et confirmásti me in conspéctu tuo in ætérnum.
14 Benedíctus Dóminus Deus Israël a sǽculo et usque in sǽculum: * fiat, fiat.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Blessed is he that understandeth concerning the needy and the poor: * the Lord will deliver him in the evil day.
2 The Lord preserve him and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth: * and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.
3 The Lord help him on his bed of sorrow: * thou hast turned all his couch in his sickness.
4 I said: O Lord, be thou merciful to me: * heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee.
5 My enemies have spoken evils against me: * when shall he die and his name perish?
6 And if he came in to see me, he spoke vain things: * his heart gathered together iniquity to itself.
7 He went out * and spoke to the same purpose.
8 All my enemies whispered together against me: * they devised evils to me.
9 They determined against me an unjust word: * shall he that sleepeth rise again no more?
10 For even the man of peace, in whom I trusted, * who ate my bread, hath greatly supplanted me.
11 But thou, O Lord, have mercy on me, and raise me up again: * and I will requite them.
12 By this I know, that thou hast had a good will for me: * because my enemy shall not rejoice over me.
13 But thou hast upheld me by reason of my innocence: * and hast established me in thy sight for ever.
14 Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel from eternity to eternity. * So be it. So be it.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 41.

* et quare contúrbas me?
9 Abýssus abýssum ínvocat, * in voce cataractárum tuárum.
10 Omnia excélsa tua, et fluctus tui * super me transiérunt.
11 In die mandávit Dóminus misericórdiam suam: * et nocte cánticum ejus.
12 Apud me orátio Deo vitæ meæ, * dicam Deo: Suscéptor meus es.
13 Quare oblítus es mei? * et quare contristátus incédo, dum afflígit me inimícus?
14 Dum confringúntur ossa mea, * exprobravérunt mihi qui tríbulant me inimíci mei.
* quare tristis es ánima mea, et quare contúrbas me?
16 Spera in Deo, quóniam adhuc confitébor illi: * salutáre vultus mei, et Deus meus.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

As the hart panteth after the fountains of water; * so my soul panteth after thee, O God.
2 My soul hath thirsted after the strong living God; * when shall I come and appear before the face of God?
3 My tears have been my bread day and night, * whilst it is said to me daily: Where is thy God?
4 These things I remembered, and poured out my soul in me: * for I shall go over into the place of the wonderful tabernacle, even to the house of God:
5 With the voice of joy and praise; * the noise of one feasting.
6 Why art thou sad, O my soul? * and why dost thou trouble me?
7 Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him: * the salvation of my countenance, and my God.
8 My soul is troubled within myself: * therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan and Hermoniim, from the little hill.
9 Deep calleth on deep, * at the noise of thy flood-gates.
10 All thy heights and thy billows * have passed over me.
11 In the daytime the Lord hath commanded his mercy; * and a canticle to him in the night.
12 With me is prayer to the God of my life. * I will say to God: Thou art my support.
13 Why hast thou forgotten me? * and why go I mourning, whilst my enemy afflicteth me?
14 Whilst my bones are broken, * my enemies who trouble me have reproached me;
15 Whilst they say to me day by day: Where is thy God? * Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me?
16 Hope thou in God, for I will still give praise to him: * the salvation of my countenance, and my God.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Sana Dómine ánimam meam, quia peccávi tibi.

Heal my soul, O Lord, for I have sinned against Thee.

Psalmus 43.

16 Posuísti nos in similitúdinem Géntibus: * commotiónem cápitis in pópulis.
17 Tota die verecúndia mea contra me est, * et confúsio faciéi meæ coopéruit me.
18 A voce exprobrántis, et obloquéntis: * a fácie inimíci et persequéntis.
* exsúrge, et ne repéllas in finem.
26 Quare fáciem tuam avértis, * oblivísceris inópiæ nostræ, et tribulatiónis nostræ?
27 Quóniam humiliáta est in púlvere ánima nostra: * conglutinátus est in terra venter noster.
28 Exsúrge Dómine, ádjuva nos: * et rédime nos propter nomen tuum.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

We have heard, O God, with our ears: * our fathers have declared to us,
2 The work, thou hast wrought in their days, * and in the days of old.
3 Thy hand destroyed the Gentiles, and thou plantedst them: * thou didst afflict the people and cast them out.
4 For they got not the possession of the land by their own sword: * neither did their own arm save them.
5 But thy right hand and thy arm, and the light of thy countenance: * because thou wast pleased with them.
6 Thou art thyself my king and my God, * who commandest the saving of Jacob.
7 Through thee we will push down our enemies with the horn: * and through thy name we will despise them that rise up against us.
8 For I will not trust in my bow: * neither shall my sword save me.
9 But thou hast saved us from them that afflict us: * and hast put them to shame that hate us.
10 In God shall we glory all the day long: * and in thy name we will give praise for ever.
11 But now thou hast cast us off, and put us to shame: * and thou, O God, wilt not go out with our armies.
12 Thou hast made us turn our back to our enemies: * and they that hated us plundered for themselves.
13 Thou hast given us up like sheep to be eaten: * thou hast scattered us among the nations.
14 Thou hast sold thy people for no price: * and there was no reckoning in the exchange of them.
15 Thou hast made us a reproach to our neighbours, * a scoff and derision to them that are round about us.
16 Thou hast made us a byword among the Gentiles: * a shaking of the head among the people.
17 All the day long my shame is before me: * and the confusion of my face hath covered me,
18 At the voice of him that reproacheth and detracteth me: * at the face of the enemy and persecutor.
19 All these things have come upon us, yet we have not forgotten thee: * and we have not done wickedly in thy covenant.
20 And our heart hath not turned back: * neither hast thou turned aside our steps from thy way.
21 For thou hast humbled us in the place of affliction: * and the shadow of death hath covered us.
22 If we have forgotten the name of our God, * and if we have spread forth our hands to a strange god:
23 Shall not God search out these things: * for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
24 Because for thy sake we are killed all the day long: * we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
25 Arise, why sleepest thou, O Lord? * arise, and cast us not off to the end.
26 Why turnest thou thy face away? * and forgettest our want and our trouble?
27 For our soul is humbled down to the dust: * our belly cleaveth to the earth.
28 Arise, O Lord, help us * and redeem us for thy name's sake.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 44.

Eructávit cor meum verbum bonum: * dico ego ópera mea regi.
2 Lingua mea cálamus scribæ, * velóciter scribéntis.
3 Speciósus forma præ fíliis hóminum, diffúsa est grátia in lábiis tuis: * proptérea benedíxit te Deus in ætérnum.
4 Accíngere gládio tuo super femur tuum, * potentíssime,
5 Spécie tua et pulchritúdine tua * inténde, próspere procéde, et regna.
6 Propter veritátem, et mansuetúdinem, et justítiam: * et dedúcet te mirabíliter déxtera tua.
7 Sagíttæ tuæ acútæ, pópuli sub te cadent, * in corda inimicórum regis.
8 Sedes tua Deus in sǽculum sǽculi: * virga directiónis virga regni tui.
9 Dilexísti justítiam, et odísti iniquitátem: * proptérea unxit te Deus Deus tuus óleo lætítiæ præ consórtibus tuis.
10 Myrrha, et gutta, et cásia a vestiméntis tuis, a dómibus ebúrneis: * ex quibus delectavérunt te fíliæ regum in honóre tuo.
11 Astitit regína a dextris tuis in vestítu deauráto: * circúmdata varietáte.

My heart hath uttered a good word: * I speak my works to the king;
Amen.

Psalmus 45.

6 Psállite Deo nostro, psállite: * psállite Regi nostro, psállite.
7 Quóniam Rex omnis terræ Deus: * psállite sapiénter.
8 Regnábit Deus super Gentes: * Deus sedet super sedem sanctam suam.
Amen.

O clap your hands, all ye nations: * shout unto God with the voice of Joy,
2 For the Lord is high, terrible: * a great king over all the earth.
3 He hath subdued the people under us; * and the nations under our feet.
4 He hath chosen for us his inheritance * the beauty of Jacob which he hath loved.
5 God is ascended with jubilee, * and the Lord with the sound of trumpet.
6 Sing praises to our God, sing ye: * sing praises to our king, sing ye.
7 For God is the king of all the earth: * sing ye wisely.
8 God shall reign over the nations: * God sitteth on his holy throne.
9 The princes of the people are gathered together, with the God of Abraham: * for the strong gods of the earth are exceedingly exalted.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Magnus Dóminus.

Great is the Lord,

Psalmus 47.

Magnus Dóminus, et laudábilis nimis * in civitáte Dei nostri, in monte sancto ejus.
2 Fundátur exsultatióne univérsæ terræ mons Sion, * látera Aquilónis, cívitas regis magni.
3 Deus in dómibus ejus cognoscétur, * cum suscípiet eam.
4 Quóniam ecce reges terræ congregáti sunt: * convenérunt in unum.
5 Ipsi vidéntes sic admiráti sunt, conturbáti sunt, commóti sunt: * tremor apprehéndit eos.
6 Ibi dolóres ut parturiéntis: * in spíritu veheménti cónteres naves Tharsis.
7 Sicut audívimus, sic vídimus in civitáte Dómini virtútum, in civitáte Dei nostri: * Deus fundávit eam in ætérnum.
8 Suscépimus Deus misericórdiam tuam, * in médio templi tui.
9 Secúndum nomen tuum, Deus, sic et laus tua in fines terræ: * justítia plena est déxtera tua.
10 Lætétur mons Sion, et exsúltent fíliæ Judæ * propter judícia tua Dómine.
11 Circúmdate Sion, et complectímini eam: * narráte in túrribus ejus.
12 Pónite corda vestra in virtúte ejus: * et distribúite domos ejus, ut enarrétis in progénie áltera.
13 Quóniam hic est Deus, Deus noster in ætérnum, et in sǽculum sǽculi: * ipse reget nos in sǽcula.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Great is the Lord, and exceedingly to be praised * in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
2 With the joy of the whole earth is mount Sion founded, * on the sides of the north, the city of the great king.
3 In her houses shall God be known, * when he shall protect her.
4 For behold the kings of the earth assembled themselves: * they gathered together.
5 So they saw, and they wondered, they were troubled, they were moved: * Trembling took hold of them.
6 There were pains as of a woman in labour. * With a vehement wind thou shalt break in pieces the ships of Tharsis.
7 As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: * God hath founded it for ever.
8 We have received thy mercy, O God, * in the midst of thy temple.
9 According to thy name, O God, so also is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: * thy right hand is full of justice.
10 Let mount Sion rejoice, and the daughters of Juda be glad; * because of thy judgments, O Lord.
11 Surround Sion, and encompass her: * tell ye in her towers.
12 Set your hearts on her strength; * and distribute her houses, that ye may relate it in another generation.
13 For this is God, our God unto eternity, and for ever and ever: * he shall rule us for evermore.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 48.

Audíte hæc omnes Gentes: * aúribus percípite omnes, qui habitátis orbem:
2 Quique terrígenæ, et fílii hóminum: * simul in unum dives et pauper.
3 Os meum loquétur sapiéntiam: * et meditátio cordis mei prudéntiam.
4 Inclinábo in parábolam aurem meam: * apériam in psaltério propositiónem meam.
5 Cur timébo in die mala? * iníquitas calcánei mei circúmdabit me:
Amen.

Hear these things, all ye nations: * give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world.
2 All you that are earthborn, and you sons of men: * both rich and poor together.
3 My mouth shall speak wisdom: * and the meditation of my heart understanding.
4 I will incline my ear to a parable; * I will open my proposition on the psaltery.
5 Why shall I fear in the evil day? * the iniquity of my heel shall encompass me.
6 They that trust in their own strength, * and glory in the multitude of their riches,
7 No brother can redeem, nor shall man redeem: * he shall not give to God his ransom,
8 Nor the price of the redemption of his soul: * and shall labour for ever, and shall still live unto the end.
9 He shall not see destruction, when he shall see the wise dying: * the senseless and the fool shall perish together:
10 And they shall leave their riches to strangers: * And their sepulchres shall be their houses for ever.
11 Their dwelling places to all generations: * they have called their lands by their names.
12 And man when he was in honour did not understand; * he is compared to senseless beasts, and is become like to them.
13 This way of theirs is a stumblingblock to them: * and afterwards they shall delight in their mouth.
14 They are laid in hell like sheep: * death shall feed upon them.
15 And the just shall have dominion over them in the morning; * and their help shall decay in hell from their glory.
16 But God will redeem my soul from the hand of hell, * when he shall receive me.
17 Be not thou afraid, when a man shall be made rich, * and when the glory of his house shall be increased.
18 For when he shall die he shall take nothing away; * nor shall his glory descend with him.
19 For in his lifetime his soul will be blessed: * and he will praise thee when thou shalt do well to him.
20 He shall go in to the generations of his fathers: * and he shall never see light.
21 Man when he was in honour did not understand: * he hath been compared to senseless beasts, and made like to them.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Magnus Dóminus et laudábilis nimis.

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised.

Deus deórum.

The God of gods,

Psalmus 49.

16 Et ínvoca me in die tribulatiónis: * éruam te, et honorificábis me.
24 Sacrifícium laudis honorificábit me: * et illic iter, quo osténdam illi salutáre Dei.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

The God of gods, the Lord hath spoken: * and he hath called the earth.
2 From the rising of the sun, to the going down thereof: * Out of Sion the loveliness of his beauty.
3 God shall come manifestly: * our God shall not keep silence.
4 A fire shall burn before him: * and a mighty tempest shall be round about him.
5 He shall call heaven from above, * and the earth, to judge his people.
6 Gather ye together his saints to him: * who set his covenant before sacrifices.
7 And the heavens shall declare his justice: * for God is judge.
8 Hear, O my people, and I will speak: O Israel, and I will testify to thee: * I am God, thy God.
9 I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices: * and thy burnt offerings are always in my sight.
10 I will not take calves out of thy house: * nor he goats out of thy flocks.
11 For all the beasts of the woods are mine: * the cattle on the hills, and the oxen.
12 I know all the fowls of the air: * and with me is the beauty of the field.
13 If I should be hungry, I would not tell thee: * for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
14 Shall I eat the flesh of bullocks? * or shall I drink the blood of goats?
15 Offer to God the sacrifice of praise: * and pay thy vows to the most High.
16 And call upon me in the day of trouble: * I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
17 But to the sinner God hath said: * Why dost thou declare my justices, and take my covenant in thy mouth?
18 Seeing thou hast hated discipline: * and hast cast my words behind thee.
19 If thou didst see a thief thou didst run with him: * and with adulterers thou hast been a partaker.
20 Thy mouth hath abounded with evil, * and thy tongue framed deceits.
21 Sitting thou didst speak against thy brother, and didst lay a scandal against thy mother's son: * These things hast thou done, and I was silent.
22 Thou thoughtest unjustly that I should be like to thee: * but I will reprove thee, and set before thy face.
23 Understand these things, you that forget God; * lest he snatch you away, and there be none to deliver you.
24 The sacrifice of praise shall glorify me: * and there is the way by which I will shew him the salvation of God.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 51.

Quid gloriáris in malítia, * qui potens es in iniquitáte?
Amen.

Why dost thou glory in malice, * thou that art mighty in iniquity?
2 All the day long thy tongue hath devised injustice: * as a sharp razor, thou hast wrought deceit.
3 Thou hast loved malice more than goodness: * and iniquity rather than to speak righteousness.
4 Thou hast loved all the words of ruin, * O deceitful tongue.
5 Therefore will God destroy thee for ever: * he will pluck thee out, and remove thee from thy dwelling place: and thy root out of the land of the living.
6 The just shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say: * Behold the man that made not God his helper:
7 But trusted in the abundance of his riches: * and prevailed in his vanity.
8 But I, as a fruitful olive tree in the house of God, * have hoped in the mercy of God for ever, yea for ever and ever.
9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: * and I will wait on thy name, for it is good in the sight of thy saints.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

De libro Génesis.

Lesson from the book of Genesis

Gen. 2. c.

℟. Deo grátias.

And the Lord God took man, and put him into the paradise for pleasure, to dress it, and keep it. And he commanded him, saying: Of every tree of paradise thou shalt eat: But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat. for in what day soever thou shalt eat of it, thou shalt die the death. And the Lord God said: It is not good for man to be alone: let us make him a help like unto himself.
But Thou, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟. Thanks be to God.

Responsorium I.

℟. Et dedit illi claritátem ætérnam.

℟. The Lord made him honourable, and defended him from his enemies, and kept him safe from those that lay in wait for him, * And gave him perpetual glory.
℣. He went down with him into the pit, and left him not in bonds.
℟. And gave him perpetual glory.

Lectio II.

Jube, domne, benedícere.
Christus perpétuæ * det nobis gaúdia vitæ.
℟. Amen.

Sir, be pleased to give the blessing.
May Christ to all His people give, * for ever in His sight to live.
Amen.

℟. Deo grátias.

And the Lord God having formed out of the ground all the beasts of the earth, and all the fowls of the air, brought them to Adam to see what he would call them: for whatsoever Adam called any living creature the same is its name. And Adam called all the beasts by their names, and all the fowls of the air, and all the cattle of the field: but for Adam there was not found a helper like himself. Then the Lord God cast a deep sleep upon Adam: and when he was fast asleep, he took one of his ribs, and filled up flesh for it. And the Lord God built the rib which he took from Adam into a woman: and brought her to Adam. And Adam said: This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man. Wherefore a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be two in one flesh.
But Thou, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟. Thanks be to God.

Responsorium II.

℟. Desidérium ánimæ ejus tribuísti ei Dómine, * Et voluntáte labiórum ejus non fraudásti eum.
℣. Quóniam prævenísti eum in benedictiónibus dulcédinis: posuísti in cápite ejus corónam de lápide pretióso.
℟. Et voluntáte labiórum ejus non fraudásti eum.
℣. Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui sancto.
℟. Et voluntáte labiórum ejus non fraudásti eum.

℟. O Lord, Thou hast given him his heart's desire, * And hast not withholden the request of his lips.
℣. For Thou hast prevented him with the blessings of sweetness: Thou hast set a crown of precious stones upon his head.
℟. And hast not withholden the request of his lips.
℣. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
℟. And hast not withholden the request of his lips.

Lectio III.

Jube, domne, benedícere.
Ignem sui amóris * accéndat Deus in córdibus nostris.
℟. Amen.

Sir, be pleased to give the blessing.
May the Spirit’s fire Divine * in our hearts enkindled shine.
Amen.

Blásius, Sebáste in Arménia cum virtútum laude floréret, ejúsdem civitátis epíscopus elígitur. Qui quo témpore Diocletiánus insatiábilem crudelitátem in Christiános exercébat, se in spelúncam ábdidit montis Argǽi: ubi támdiu látuit, dum ab Agricolái prǽsidis milítibus venántibus deprehénsus, et ad prǽsidem ductus, ejus jussu conjéctus est in víncula. Quo in loco multos ægrótos sanávit, qui ad Blásium, ejus fama sanctitátis addúcti, deferebántur. In illis puer fuit, qui desperáta a médicis salúte, transvérsa spina faúcibus inhærénte, ánimam agébat.
℟. Deo grátias.

This Blaise was chosen Bishop of the city of Sebaste in Armenia, in which place he enjoyed a great reputation for virtue. When Diocletian began to make the Christians the objects of his insatiable cruelty, the Saint hid himself in a cave on Mount Argaeus, where he lay till he was found by some of the soldiers of Agricolaus the governor, who were out hunting. He was brought before the governor, who commanded him to be thrown into irons. While he was in prison, Blaise healed many of the sick, who were brought to him on account of his reputation of saintliness, and among others a boy who had been despaired of by the physicians, and who was at the point of death, from a fish bone which had become fixed in his throat. Blaise appeared twice before the governor, but neither cajolements nor threats could induce him to sacrifice to the gods. He was first beaten with rods, and afterwards put on the rack, where his flesh was mangled with iron combs. At last his head was cut off, whereby he finished a noble testimony to the faith which is in Christ our Lord. He bore witness on the 3rd day of February, (in the year of salvation 316).
But Thou, O Lord, have mercy on us.
℟. Thanks be to God.

2 Etenim firmávit orbem terræ, * qui non commovébitur.
3 Paráta sedes tua ex tunc: * a sǽculo tu es.
4 Elevavérunt flúmina Dómine: * elevavérunt flúmina vocem suam.
5 Elevavérunt flúmina fluctus suos, * a vócibus aquárum multárum.
6 Mirábiles elatiónes maris: * mirábilis in altis Dóminus.

2 For he hath established the world * which shall not be moved.
3 Thy throne is prepared from of old: * thou art from everlasting.
4 The floods have lifted up, O Lord: * the floods have lifted up their voice.
5 The floods have lifted up their waves, * With the noise of many waters.
6 Wonderful are the surges of the sea: * wonderful is the Lord on high.
7 Thy testimonies are become exceedingly credible: * holiness becometh thy house, O Lord, unto length of days.

Psalmus 99.

Jubiláte Deo omnis terra: * servíte Dómino in lætítia.
2 Introíte in conspéctu ejus, * in exsultatióne.

Sing joyfully to God, all the earth: * serve ye the Lord with gladness.
2 Come in before his presence * with exceeding great joy.
3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: * he made us, and not we ourselves.
4 We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. * Go ye into his gates with praise, into his courts with hymns: and give glory to him.
5 Praise ye his name: for the Lord is sweet, his mercy endureth for ever, * and his truth to generation and generation.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.

He that followeth Me walketh not in darkness, but shall have the light of life, saith the Lord.

Qui mihi minístrat,

If any man serve Me,

Psalmus 62.

8 Et in velaménto alárum tuárum exsultábo, adhǽsit ánima mea post te: * me suscépit déxtera tua.
9 Ipsi vero in vanum quæsiérunt ánimam meam, introíbunt in inferióra terræ: * tradéntur in manus gládii, partes vúlpium erunt.
10 Rex vero lætábitur in Deo, laudabúntur omnes qui jurant in eo: * quia obstrúctum est os loquéntium iníqua.
Psalmus 66.
1 Deus misereátur nostri, et benedícat nobis: * illúminet vultum suum super nos, et misereátur nostri.
2 Ut cognoscámus in terra viam tuam: * in ómnibus Géntibus salutáre tuum.
3 Confiteántur tibi pópuli Deus: * confiteántur tibi pópuli omnes.
4 Læténtur et exsúltent Gentes: * quóniam júdicas pópulos in æquitáte, et Gentes in terra dírigis.
5 Confiteántur tibi pópuli Deus, confiteántur tibi pópuli omnes: * terra dedit fructum suum.
6 Benedícat nos Deus, Deus noster, benedícat nos Deus: * et métuant eum omnes fines terræ.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Amen.

Benedictus.

10 To give knowledge of salvation unto His people, * by the remission of their sins;
Amen.

Psalmus 22.

Dóminus regit me, et nihil mihi déerit: * in loco páscuæ ibi me collocávit.
2 Super aquam refectiónis educávit me: * ánimam meam convértit.
3 Dedúxit me super sémitas justítiæ, * propter nomen suum.
6 Parásti in conspéctu meo mensam, * advérsus eos, qui tríbulant me.
8 Et misericórdia tua subsequétur me * ómnibus diébus vitæ meæ:

The Lord ruleth me: and I shall want nothing. * He hath set me in a place of pasture.
2 He hath brought me up, on the water of refreshment: * He hath converted my soul.
3 He hath led me on the paths of justice, * for his own name's sake.
4 For though I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils, * for thou art with me.
5 Thy rod and thy staff, * they have comforted me.
6 Thou hast prepared a table before me * against them that afflict me.
7 Thou hast anointed my head with oil; * and my chalice which inebriateth me, how goodly is it!
8 And thy mercy will follow me * all the days of my life.
9 And that I may dwell in the house of the Lord * unto length of days.
O Lord, grant them * eternal rest.
And let the everlasting light * shine upon them.

In loco páscuæ ibi me collocávit.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.

Delícta.

Lord, remember not the sins of my youth,

Psalmus 24.

4 Vias tuas Dómine demónstra mihi: * et sémitas tuas édoce me.
5 Dírige me in veritáte tua, et doce me: * quia tu es Deus salvátor meus, et te sustínui tota die.
10 Díriget mansuétos in judício: * docébit mites vias suas.

To thee, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul. * In thee, O my God, I put my trust; let me not be ashamed.
2 Neither let my enemies laugh at me: * for none of them that wait on thee shall be confounded.
3 Let all them be confounded that act unjust things * without cause.
4 Shew, O Lord, thy ways to me, * and teach me thy paths.
5 Direct me in thy truth, and teach me; * for thou art God my Saviour; and on thee have I waited all the day long.
6 Remember, O Lord, thy bowels of compassion; * and thy mercies that are from the beginning of the world.
7 The sins of my youth * and my ignorances do not remember.
8 According to thy mercy remember thou me: * for thy goodness' sake, O Lord.
9 The Lord is sweet and righteous: * therefore he will give a law to sinners in the way.
10 He will guide the mild in judgment: * he will teach the meek his ways.
11 All the ways of the Lord are mercy and truth, * to them that seek after his covenant and his testimonies.
12 For thy name's sake, O Lord, thou wilt pardon my sin: * for it is great.
13 Who is the man that feareth the Lord? * He hath appointed him a law in the way he hath chosen.
14 His soul shall dwell in good things: * and his seed shall inherit the land.
15 The Lord is a firmament to them that fear him: * and his covenant shall be made manifest to them.
16 My eyes are ever towards the Lord: * for he shall pluck my feet out of the snare.
17 Look thou upon me, and have mercy on me; * for I am alone and poor.
18 The troubles of my heart are multiplied: * deliver me from my necessities.
19 See my abjection and my labour; * and forgive me all my sins.
20 Consider my enemies for they are multiplied, * and have hated me with an unjust hatred.
21 Keep thou my soul, and deliver me: * I shall not be ashamed, for I have hoped in thee.
22 The innocent and the upright have adhered to me: * because I have waited on thee.
23 Deliver Israel, O God, * from all his tribulations.
O Lord, grant them * eternal rest.
And let the everlasting light * shine upon them.

Lord, remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions.

Credo vidére.

I believe that I shall yet see the goodness of the Lord.

Psalmus 26.

Dóminus illuminátio mea, et salus mea, * quem timébo?
2 Dóminus protéctor vitæ meæ, * a quo trepidábo?
3 Dum apprópiant super me nocéntes, * ut edant carnes meas:
7 Unam pétii a Dómino, hanc requíram, * ut inhábitem in domo Dómini ómnibus diébus vitæ meæ:
8 Ut vídeam voluptátem Dómini, * et vísitem templum ejus.
9 Quóniam abscóndit me in tabernáculo suo: * in die malórum protéxit me in abscóndito tabernáculi sui.
10 In petra exaltávit me: * et nunc exaltávit caput meum super inimícos meos.
11 Circuívi, et immolávi in tabernáculo ejus hóstiam vociferatiónis: * cantábo, et psalmum dicam Dómino.
12 Exaúdi Dómine vocem meam, qua clamávi ad te: * miserére mei, et exaúdi me.
13 Tibi dixit cor meum, exquisívit te fácies mea: * fáciem tuam Dómine requíram.
14 Ne avértas fáciem tuam a me: * ne declínes in ira a servo tuo.
15 Adjútor meus esto: * ne derelínquas me, neque despícias me Deus salutáris meus.
16 Quóniam pater meus, et mater mea dereliquérunt me: * Dóminus autem assúmpsit me.
17 Legem pone mihi Dómine in via tua: * et dírige me in sémitam rectam propter inimícos meos.
18 Ne tradíderis me in ánimas tribulántium me: * quóniam insurrexérunt in me testes iníqui, et mentíta est iníquitas sibi.
19 Credo vidére bona Dómini * in terra vivéntium.
20 Exspécta Dóminum, viríliter age: * et confortétur cor tuum, et sústine Dóminum.
Réquiem ætérnam * dona eis Dómine.
Et lux perpétua * lúceat eis.

The Lord is my light and my salvation, * whom shall I fear?
2 The Lord is the protector of my life: * of whom shall I be afraid?
3 Whilst the wicked draw near against me, * to eat my flesh.
4 My enemies that trouble me, * have themselves been weakened, and have fallen.
5 If armies in camp should stand together against me, * my heart shall not fear.
If a battle should rise up against me, * in this will I be confident.
7 One thing I have asked of the Lord, this will I seek after; * that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.
8 That I may see the delight of the Lord, * and may visit his temple.
9 For he hath hidden me in his tabernacle; * in the day of evils, he hath protected me in the secret place of his tabernacle.
10 He hath exalted me upon a rock: * and now he hath lifted up my head above my enemies.
11 I have gone round, and have offered up in his tabernacle a sacrifice of jubilation: * I will sing, and recite a psalm to the Lord.
12 Hear, O Lord, my voice, with which I have cried to thee: * have mercy on me and hear me.
13 My heart hath said to thee: My face hath sought thee: * thy face, O Lord, will I still seek.
14 Turn not away thy face from me; * decline not in thy wrath from thy servant.
15 Be thou my helper, * forsake me not; do not thou despise me, O God my Saviour.
16 For my father and my mother have left me: * but the Lord hath taken me up.
17 Set me, O Lord, a law in thy way, * and guide me in the right path, because of my enemies.
18 Deliver me not over to the will of them that trouble me; * for unjust witnesses have risen up against me; and iniquity hath lied to itself.
19 I believe to see the good things of the Lord * in the land of the living.
20 Expect the Lord, do manfully, and let thy heart take courage, and wait thou for the Lord.
O Lord, grant them * eternal rest.
And let the everlasting light * shine upon them.

Credo vidére bona Dómini in terra vivéntium.

I believe that I shall yet see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

℣. Cóllocet eos Dóminus cum princípibus.
℟. Cum princípibus pópuli sui.

℣. May the Lord set them with princes;
℟. Even with the princes of his people.

Amen.

Lectio IV.

Respónde mihi: Quantas hábeo iniquitátes et peccáta, scélera mea et delícta osténde mihi. Cur fáciem tuam abscóndis, et arbitráris me inimícum tuum?

Answer me. How many are my iniquities and sins? make me know my crimes and offences. Why hidest thou thy face, and thinkest me thy enemy? Against a leaf, that is carried away with the wind, thou showest thy power, and thou pursuest a dry straw. For thou writest bitter things against me, and wilt consume me for the sins of my youth. Thou hast put my feet in the stocks, and hast observed all my paths, and hast considered the steps of my feet: Who am to be consumed as rottenness, and as a garment that is moth-eaten.

Responsorium IV.

℟. Meménto mei Deus, quia ventus est vita mea, * Nec aspíciat me visus hóminis.
℟. Nec aspíciat me visus hóminis.

℟. Remember, O God, that my life is wind. * The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more.
℣. Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord! Lord, hear my voice.
℟. The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more.

Lectio V.

Man born of a woman, living for a short time, is filled with many miseries. Who cometh forth like a flower, and is destroyed, and fleeth as a shadow, and never continueth in the same state. And dost thou think it meet to open thy eyes upon such an one, and to bring him into judgment with thee? Who can make him clean that is conceived of unclean seed? is it not thou who only art? The days of man are short, and the number of his months is with thee: thou hast appointed his bounds which cannot be passed. Depart a little from him, that he may rest, until his wished for day come, as that of the hireling

Responsorium V.

℟. Heu mihi Dómine, quia peccávi nimis in vita mea: Quid fáciam, miser? ubi fúgiam, nisi ad te Deus meus? * Miserére mei, dum véneris in novíssimo die.
℟. Miserére mei, dum véneris in novíssimo die.

℟. Woe is me, O Lord! for I have sinned greatly in my life. I am smitten what shall I do? Whither shall I flee but unto thee, O my God? * Have mercy upon me, when Thou comest at the latter day.
℣. My soul is sore vexed, but Thou, O Lord, help me.
℟. Have mercy upon me, when Thou comest at the latter day.

Lectio VI.

Quis mihi hoc tríbuat, ut in inférno prótegas me, et abscóndas me, donec pertránseat furor tuus, et constítuas mihi tempus in quo recordéris mei? Putásne mórtuus homo rursum vivat? Cunctis diébus quibus nunc mílito, exspécto donec véniat immutátio mea. Vocábis me, et ego respondébo tibi: óperi mánuum tuárum pórriges déxteram. Tu quidem gressus meos dinumerásti, sed parce peccátis meis.

Who will grant me this, that thou mayst protect me in hell, and hide me till thy wrath pass, and appoint me a time when thou wilt remember me? Shall man that is dead, thinkest thou, live again? all the days in which I am now in warfare, I expect until my change come. Thou shalt call me, and I will answer thee: to the work of thy hands thou shalt reach out thy right hand. Thou indeed hast numbered my steps, but spare my sins.

Responsorium VI.

℟. Ne recordéris peccáta mea Dómine, * Dum véneris judicáre sǽculum per ignem.
℣. Dírige Dómine Deus meus in conspéctu tuo viam meam.
℟. Dum véneris judicáre sǽculum per ignem.
℣. Réquiem ætérnam dona eis Dómine: et lux perpétua lúceat eis.
℟. Dum véneris judicáre sǽculum per ignem.

℟. Hold not my sins in remembrance, O Lord, * When Thou shalt come to judge the world by fire.
℣. Make my way straight before thy face, O Lord my God.
℟. When Thou shalt come to judge the world by fire.
℣. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
℟. When Thou shalt come to judge the world by fire.

Make haste, O God, to deliver me.
Make haste to help me, O Lord.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.

Psalmi.

Exsultábunt.

The bones which thou hast broken.

Psalmus 50.

Miserére mei Deus, * secúndum magnam misericórdiam tuam.
2 Et secúndum multitúdinem miseratiónum tuárum, * dele iniquitátem meam.
3 Amplius lava me ab iniquitáte mea: * et a peccáto meo munda me.
8 Aspérges me hyssópo, et mundábor: * lavábis me, et super nivem dealbábor.
9 Audítui meo dabis gaúdium et lætítiam: * et exsultábunt ossa humiliáta.
10 Avérte fáciem tuam a peccátis meis: * et omnes iniquitátes meas dele.
11 Cor mundum crea in me Deus: * et spíritum rectum ínnova in viscéribus meis.
12 Ne projícias me a fácie tua: * et Spíritum sanctum tuum ne aúferas a me.
13 Redde mihi lætítiam salutáris tui: * et spíritu principáli confírma me.

Have mercy on me, O God, * according to thy great mercy.
2 And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies * blot out my iniquity.
3 Wash me yet more from my iniquity, * and cleanse me from my sin.
4 For I know my iniquity, * and my sin is always before me.
5 To thee only have I sinned, and have done evil before thee: * that thou mayst be justified in thy words and mayst overcome when thou art judged.
6 For behold I was conceived in iniquities; * and in sins did my mother conceive me.
7 For behold thou hast loved truth: * the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me.
8 Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed: * thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow.
9 To my hearing thou shalt give joy and gladness: * and the bones that have been humbled shall rejoice.
10 Turn away thy face from my sins, * and blot out all my iniquities.
11 Create a clean heart in me, O God: * and renew a right spirit within my bowels.
12 Cast me not away from thy face; * and take not thy holy spirit from me.
13 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, * and strengthen me with a perfect spirit.
14 I will teach the unjust thy ways: * and the wicked shall be converted to thee.
15 Deliver me from blood, O God, thou God of my salvation: * and my tongue shall extol thy justice.
16 O Lord, thou wilt open my lips: * and my mouth shall declare thy praise.
17 For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: * with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted.
18 A sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: * a contrite and humbled heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
19 Deal favourably, O Lord, in thy good will with Sion; * that the walls of Jerusalem may be built up.
20 Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: * then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.
O Lord, grant them * eternal rest.
And let the everlasting light * shine upon them.

Exsultábunt Dómino ossa humiliáta.

The bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

Exaúdi Dómine.

Lord, hear.

Psalmus 64.

Te decet hymnus Deus in Sion: * et tibi reddétur votum in Jerúsalem.
2 Exaúdi oratiónem meam: * ad te omnis caro véniet.
3 Verba iniquórum prævaluérunt super nos: * et impietátibus nostris tu propitiáberis.
4 Beátus, quem elegísti, et assumpsísti: * inhabitábit in átriis tuis.
5 Replébimur in bonis domus tuæ: * sanctum est templum tuum, mirábile in æquitáte.
6 Exaúdi nos Deus salutáris noster, * spes ómnium fínium terræ, et in mari longe.
7 Prǽparans montes in virtúte tua, accínctus poténtia: * qui contúrbas profúndum maris sonum flúctuum ejus.
11 Rivos ejus inébria, multíplica genímina ejus: * in stillicídiis ejus lætábitur gérminans.

A Hymn, O God, becometh thee in Sion: * and a vow shall be paid to thee in Jerusalem.
2 O hear my prayer: * all flesh shall come to thee.
3 The words of the wicked have prevailed over us: * and thou wilt pardon our transgressions.
4 Blessed is he whom thou hast chosen and taken to thee: * he shall dwell in thy courts.
5 We shall be filled with the good things of thy house; * holy is thy temple, wonderful in justice.
6 Hear us, O God our saviour, * who art the hope of all the ends of the earth, and in the sea afar off.
7 Thou who preparest the mountains by thy strength, being girded with power: * Who troublest the depth of the sea, the noise of its waves.
8 The Gentiles shall be troubled, and they that dwell in the uttermost borders shall be afraid at thy signs: * thou shalt make the outgoings of the morning and of the evening to be joyful.
9 Thou hast visited the earth, and hast plentifully watered it; * thou hast many ways enriched it.
10 The river of God is filled with water, thou hast prepared their food: * for so is its preparation.
11 Fill up plentifully the streams thereof, multiply its fruits; * it shall spring up and rejoice in its showers.
12 Thou shalt bless the crown of the year of thy goodness: * and thy fields shall be filled with plenty.
13 The beautiful places of the wilderness shall grow fat: * and the hills shall be girded about with joy,
14 The rams of the flock are clothed, and the vales shall abound with corn: * they shall shout, yea they shall sing a hymn.
O Lord, grant them * eternal rest.
And let the everlasting light * shine upon them.

Exaúdi Dómine oratiónem meam: ad te omnis caro véniet.

Lord, hear my prayer; unto thee shall all flesh come.

Me suscépit.

Thy right hand.

Psalmus 62.

8 Et in velaménto alárum tuárum exsultábo, adhǽsit ánima mea post te: * me suscépit déxtera tua.
9 Ipsi vero in vanum quæsiérunt ánimam meam, introíbunt in inferióra terræ: * tradéntur in manus gládii, partes vúlpium erunt.
10 Rex vero lætábitur in Deo, laudabúntur omnes qui jurant in eo: * quia obstrúctum est os loquéntium iníqua.
Psalmus 66.
1 Deus misereátur nostri, et benedícat nobis: * illúminet vultum suum super nos, et misereátur nostri.
2 Ut cognoscámus in terra viam tuam: * in ómnibus Géntibus salutáre tuum.
3 Confiteántur tibi pópuli Deus: * confiteántur tibi pópuli omnes.
4 Læténtur et exsúltent Gentes: * quóniam júdicas pópulos in æquitáte, et Gentes in terra dírigis.
5 Confiteántur tibi pópuli Deus, confiteántur tibi pópuli omnes: * terra dedit fructum suum.
6 Benedícat nos Deus, Deus noster, benedícat nos Deus: * et métuant eum omnes fines terræ.
Réquiem ætérnam * dona eis Dómine.
Et lux perpétua * lúceat eis.

O Lord, grant them * eternal rest.
And let the everlasting light * shine upon them.

Me suscépit déxtera tua Dómine.

Thy right hand upholdeth me.

A porta ínferi.

From the gates of hell.

Canticum Ezechiae.

Ego dixi: In dimídio diérum meórum * vadam ad portas ínferi.
2 Quæsívi resíduum annórum meórum. * Dixi: Non vidébo Dóminum Deum in terra vivéntium.
5 Præcísa est velut a texénte, vita mea: dum adhuc ordírer, succídit me: * de mane usque ad vésperam fínies me.
9 Dómine vim pátior, respónde pro me.
10 Recogitábo tibi omnes annos meos * in amaritúdine ánimæ meæ.
11 Dómine si sic vívitur, et in tálibus vita spíritus mei, corrípies me, et vivificábis me. * Ecce in pace amaritúdo mea amaríssima:
12 Tu autem eruísti ánimam meam ut non períret: * projecísti post tergum tuum ómnia peccáta mea.
13 Quia non inférnus confitébitur tibi, neque mors laudábit te: * non exspectábunt qui descéndunt in lacum, veritátem tuam.
14 Vivens vivens ipse confitébitur tibi, sicut et ego hódie: * pater fíliis notam fáciet veritátem tuam.
15 Dómine salvum me fac, * et psalmos nostros cantábimus cunctis diébus vitæ nostræ in domo Dómini.
Réquiem ætérnam * dona eis Dómine.
Et lux perpétua * lúceat eis.

I said: In the midst of my days * I shall go to the gates of hell:
2 I sought for the residue of my years. * I said: I shall not see the Lord God in the land of the living.
3 I shall behold man no more, * nor the inhabitant of rest.
4 My generation is at an end, and it is rolled away from me, * as a shepherd's tent.
5 My life is cut off, as by a weaver: whilst I was yet but beginning, he cut me off: * from morning even to night thou wilt make an end of me.
6 I hoped till morning, * as a lion so hath he broken all my bones:
7 from morning even to night thou wilt make an end of me. * I will cry like a young swallow, I will meditate like a dove:
8 My eyes are weakened * looking upward:
9 Lord, I suffer violence, answer thou for me. * What shall I say, or what shall he answer for me, whereas he himself hath done it?
10 I will recount to thee all my years * in the bitterness of my soul.
11 O Lord, if man's life be such, and the life of my spirit be in such things as these, thou shalt correct me, and make me to live. * Behold in peace is my bitterness most bitter:
12 But thou hast delivered my soul that it should not perish, * thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
13 For hell shall not confess to thee, neither shall death praise thee: * nor shall they that go down into the pit, look for thy truth.
14 The living, the living, he shall give praise to thee, as I do this day: * the father shall make thy truth known to the children.
15 O Lord, save me, * and we will sing our psalms all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.
O Lord, grant them * eternal rest.
And let the everlasting light * shine upon them.

A porta ínferi érue Dómine ánimam meam.

From the gates of hell deliver my soul, O Lord.

Omnis spíritus.

Let everything that hath breath.

Praise ye the Lord from the heavens: * praise ye him in the high places.
2 Praise ye him, all his angels: * praise ye him, all his hosts.
3 Praise ye him, O sun and moon: * praise him, all ye stars and light.
4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens: * and let all the waters that are above the heavens praise the name of the Lord.
5 For he spoke, and they were made: * he commanded, and they were created.
6 He hath established them for ever, and for ages of ages: * he hath made a decree, and it shall not pass away.
7 Praise the Lord from the earth, * ye dragons, and all ye deeps:
8 Fire, hail, snow, ice, stormy winds * which fulfill his word:
9 Mountains and all hills, * fruitful trees and all cedars:
10 Beasts and all cattle: * serpents and feathered fowls:
11 Kings of the earth and all people: * princes and all judges of the earth:
12 Young men and maidens: let the old with the younger, praise the name of the Lord: * for his name alone is exalted.
13 The praise of him is above heaven and earth: * and he hath exalted the horn of his people.
14 A hymn to all his saints: * to the children of Israel, a people approaching to him.

1 Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: * let his praise be in the church of the saints.
2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: * and let the children of Sion be joyful in their king.
3 Let them praise his name in choir: * let them sing to him with the timbrel and the psaltery.
4 For the Lord is well pleased with his people: * and he will exalt the meek unto salvation.
5 The saints shall rejoice in glory: * they shall be joyful in their beds.
6 The high praises of God shall be in their mouth: * and two-edged swords in their hands:
7 To execute vengeance upon the nations, * chastisements among the people:
8 To bind their kings with fetters, * and their nobles with manacles of iron.
9 To execute upon them the judgment that is written: * this glory is to all his saints.

1 Praise ye the Lord in his holy places: * praise ye him in the firmament of his power.

I am the resurrection and the life:

Benedictus.

10 To give knowledge of salvation unto His people, * by the remission of their sins;
11 Through the tender mercy of our God, * whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
12 To give light to them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, * to guide our feet into the way of peace.
O Lord, grant them * eternal rest.
And let the everlasting light * shine upon them.

Ego sum resurréctio et vita: qui credit in me, étiam si mórtuus fúerit, vivet: et omnis qui vivit et credit in me, non moriétur in ætérnum.

I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
