Pater noster, qui es in cœlis: sanctificétur nomen tuum: advéniat regnum tuum: fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cœlo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie: et dimítte nobis débita nostra, sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris: et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem: sed líbera nos a malo. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven: hallowed be thy name: thy kingdom come: thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us: and lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Ave María, grátia plena, Dóminus tecum: benedícta tu in muliéribus, et benedíctus fructus ventris tui Jesus. Sancta María, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatóribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostræ. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
In conspéctu.
Before the Angels.
Psalmus 137.
Confitébor tibi Dómine in toto corde meo: * quóniam audísti verba oris mei.
2 In conspéctu Angelórum psallam tibi: * adorábo ad templum sanctum tuum, et confitébor nómini tuo.
3 Super misericórdia tua, et veritáte tua: * quóniam magnificásti super omne, nomen sanctum tuum.
4 In quacúmque die invocávero te, exaúdi me: * multiplicábis in ánima mea virtútem.
5 Confiteántur tibi Dómine omnes reges terræ: * quia audiérunt ómnia verba oris tui:
6 Et cantent in viis Dómini: * quóniam magna est glória Dómini.
7 Quóniam excélsus Dóminus, et humília réspicit: * et alta a longe cognóscit.
8 Si ambulávero in médio tribulatiónis, vivificábis me: † et super iram inimicórum meórum extendísti manum tuam, * et salvum me fecit déxtera tua.
9 Dóminus retríbuet pro me: † Dómine misericórdia tua in sǽculum: * ópera mánuum tuárum ne despícias.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart: * for thou hast heard the words of my mouth.
2 I will sing praise to thee in the sight of the angels: * I will worship towards thy holy temple, and I will give glory to thy name.
3 For thy mercy, and for thy truth: * for thou hast magnified thy holy name above all.
4 In what day soever I shall call upon thee, hear me: * thou shall multiply strength in my soul.
5 May all the kings of the earth give glory to thee: * for they have heard all the words of thy mouth.
6 And let them sing in the ways of the Lord: * for great is the glory of the Lord.
7 For the Lord is high, and looketh on the low: * and the high he knoweth afar off.
8 If I shall walk in the midst of tribulation, thou wilt quicken me: † and thou hast stretched forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies: * and thy right hand hath saved me.
9 The Lord will repay for me: † thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: * O despise not the work of thy hands.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.
In conspéctu Angelórum psallam tibi Deus meus.
Before the Angels will I sing praise unto Thee, O my God.
Psalmus 138.
Dómine probásti me, et cognovísti me: * tu cognovísti sessiónem meam et resurrectiónem meam.
4 Ecce Dómine tu cognovísti ómnia novíssima, et antíqua: * tu formásti me, et posuísti super me manum tuam.
6 Quo ibo a spíritu tuo?
9 Etenim illuc manus tua dedúcet me: * et tenébit me déxtera tua.
12 Quia tu possedísti renes meos: * suscepísti me de útero matris meæ.
18 Si occíderis Deus peccatóres: * viri sánguinum declináte a me:
19 Quia dícitis in cogitatióne: * accípient in vanitáte civitátes tuas.
22 Proba me Deus et scito cor meum: * intérroga me, et cognósce sémitas meas.
23 Et vide, si via iniquitátis in me est: * et deduc me in via ætérna.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
Lord, thou hast proved me, and known me: * Thou hast known my sitting down, and my rising up.
2 Thou hast understood my thoughts afar off: * my path and my line thou hast searched out.
3 And thou hast foreseen all my ways: * for there is no speech in my tongue.
4 Behold, O Lord, thou hast known all things, the last and those of old: * thou hast formed me, and hast laid thy hand upon me.
5 Thy knowledge is become wonderful to me: * it is high, and I cannot reach to it.
6 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? * or whither shall I flee from thy face?
7 If I ascend into heaven, thou art there: * if I descend into hell, thou art present.
8 If I take my wings early in the morning, * and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:
9 Even there also shall thy hand lead me: * and thy right hand shall hold me.
10 And I said: Perhaps darkness shall cover me: * and night shall be my light in my pleasures.
11 But darkness shall not be dark to thee, † and night shall be light as day: * the darkness thereof, and the light thereof are alike to thee.
12 For thou hast possessed my reins: * thou hast protected me from my mother's womb.
13 I will praise thee, for thou art fearfully magnified: † wonderful are thy works, * and my soul knoweth right well.
14 My bone is not hidden from thee, which thou hast made in secret: * and my substance in the lower parts of the earth.
15 Thy eyes did see my imperfect being, † and in thy book all shall be written: * days shall be formed, and no one in them.
16 But to me thy friends, O God, are made exceedingly honourable: * their principality is exceedingly strengthened.
17 I will number them, and they shall be multiplied above the sand: * I rose up and am still with thee.
18 If thou wilt kill the wicked, O God: * ye men of blood, depart from me:
19 Because you say in thought: * They shall receive thy cities in vain.
20 Have I not hated them, O Lord, that hated thee: * and pine away because of thy enemies?
21 I have hated them with a perfect hatred: * and they are become enemies to me.
22 Prove me, O God, and know my heart: * examine me, and know my paths.
23 And see if there be in me the way of iniquity: * and lead me in the eternal way.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.
Dómine probásti me, et cognovísti me.
O Lord, Thou hast searched me and known me.
A viro iníquo.
Preserve me,
Psalmus 139.
Eripe me Dómine ab hómine malo: * a viro iníquo éripe me.
2 Qui cogitavérunt iniquitátes in corde: * tota die constituébant prǽlia.
3 Acuérunt linguas suas sicut serpéntis: * venénum áspidum sub lábiis eórum.
4 Custódi me Dómine de manu peccatóris: * et ab homínibus iníquis éripe me.
5 Qui cogitavérunt supplantáre gressus meos: * abscondérunt supérbi láqueum mihi:
6 Et funes extendérunt in láqueum: * juxta iter scándalum posuérunt mihi.
7 Dixi Dómino: Deus meus es tu: * exaúdi Dómine vocem deprecatiónis meæ.
8 Dómine, Dómine virtus salútis meæ: * obumbrásti super caput meum in die belli:
9 Ne tradas me Dómine a desidério meo peccatóri: † cogitavérunt contra me, * ne derelínquas me, ne forte exalténtur.
Amen.
Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: * rescue me from the unjust man.
2 Who have devised iniquities in their hearts: * all the day long they designed battles.
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent: * the venom of asps is under their lips.
4 Keep me, O Lord, from the hand of the wicked: * and from unjust men deliver me.
5 Who have proposed to supplant my steps. * The proud have hidden a net for me.
6 And they have stretched out cords for a snare: * they have laid for me a stumblingblock by the wayside.
7 I said to the Lord: Thou art my God: * hear, O Lord, the voice of my supplication.
8 O Lord, Lord, the strength of my salvation: * thou hast overshadowed my head in the day of battle.
9 Give me not up, O Lord, from my desire to the wicked: † they have plotted against me; * do not thou forsake me, lest they should triumph.
10 The head of them compassing me about: * the labour of their lips shall overwhelm them.
11 Burning coals shall fall upon them; † thou wilt cast them down into the fire: * in miseries they shall not be able to stand.
12 A man full of tongue shall not be established in the earth: * evil shall catch the unjust man unto destruction.
13 I know that the Lord will do justice to the needy, * and will revenge the poor.
14 But as for the just, they shall give glory to thy name: * and the upright shall dwell with thy countenance.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.
A viro iníquo líbera me Dómine.
Preserve me, O Lord, from the wicked man.
Psalmus 140.
2 Dirigátur orátio mea sicut incénsum in conspéctu tuo: * elevátio mánuum meárum sacrifícium vespertínum.
10 Custódi me a láqueo, quem statuérunt mihi: * et a scándalis operántium iniquitátem.
11 Cadent in retiáculo ejus peccatóres: * singuláriter sum ego donec tránseam.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
I have cried to thee, O Lord, hear me: * hearken to my voice, when I cry to thee.
2 Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight; * the lifting up of my hands, as evening sacrifice.
3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth: * and a door round about my lips.
4 Incline not my heart to evil words; * to make excuses in sins.
5 With men that work iniquity: * and I will not communicate with the choicest of them.
6 The just shall correct me in mercy, and shall reprove me: * but let not the oil of the sinner fatten my head.
7 For my prayer also shall still be against the things with which they are well pleased: * Their judges falling upon the rock have been swallowed up.
8 They shall hear my words, for they have prevailed: * As when the thickness of the earth is broken up upon the ground:
9 Our bones are scattered by the side of hell. † But o to thee, O Lord, Lord, are my eyes: * in thee have I put my trust, take not away my soul.
10 Keep me from the snare, which they have laid for me, * and from the stumblingblocks of them that work iniquity.
11 The wicked shall fall in his net: * I am alone until I pass.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.
Dómine clamávi ad te, exaúdi me.
Lord, I cry unto Thee, hear me.
Pórtio mea.
O Lord, let my portion.
Psalmus 141.
Voce mea ad Dóminum clamávi: * voce mea ad Dóminum deprecátus sum:
2 Effúndo in conspéctu ejus oratiónem meam, * et tribulatiónem meam ante ipsum pronúntio.
3 In deficiéndo ex me spíritum meum, * et tu cognovísti sémitas meas.
4 In via hac, qua ambulábam, * abscondérunt láqueum mihi.
9 Líbera me a persequéntibus me: * quia confortáti sunt super me.
10 Educ de custódia ánimam meam ad confiténdum nómini tuo: * me exspéctant justi, donec retríbuas mihi.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
I cried to the Lord with my voice: * with my voice I made supplication to the Lord.
2 In his sight I pour out my prayer, * and before him I declare my trouble:
3 When my spirit failed me, * then thou knewest my paths.
4 In this way wherein I walked, * they have hidden a snare for me.
5 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, * and there was no one that would know me.
6 Flight hath failed me: * and there is no one that hath regard to my soul.
7 I cried to thee, O Lord: † I said: Thou art my hope, * my portion in the land of the living.
8 Attend to my supplication: * for I am brought very low.
9 Deliver me from my persecutors; * for they are stronger than I.
10 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: * the just wait for me, until thou reward me.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: * world without end. Amen.
Pórtio mea Dómine sit in terra vivéntium.
O Lord, let my portion be in the land of the living.
